AMF (Auto Main Failure) Panel is an automated electrical control system that acts as as bridge between the main utility power supply the "mains" and a backup generator. It is designed to automatically sense a power outage and switch the load to the generator without human intervention.

Core Components
§ AMF Controller:
A specialized microprocessor or PLC that manages the entire logic sequence.
§ Contactors/ACBs:
High-power switching devices (mechanically or electrically interlocked) to prevent the mains and generator from connecting at the same time.
§ Battery Charger:
An integrated charger that keeps the generator’s starting batteries at full capacity during standby.
§ Sensing Relays:
Used to detect phase failure or voltage fluctuations.
Primary Functions
§ Mains Monitoring:
Continuously tracks utility voltage, frequency, and phase balance.
§ Auto-Start:
If the mains power fails or falls below a specific threshold (e.g., undervoltage), the panel sends a signal to start the Diesel Generator (DG).
§ Load Transfer:
Once the generator reaches the correct voltage and frequency, the panel switches the building's electrical load from the mains to the generator.
§ Auto-Restoration:
When utility power is restored and stable, the panel switches the load back to the mains and initiates a "cool-down" period for the generator before shutting it down.
§ Protection:
Monitors the health of both the mains and the generator, protecting against over-current, earth faults, and engine issues (low oil pressure, high coolant temperature).
Safety Features
§ Electrical Protection:
Over-current, short-circuit, earth fault, and reverse power protection.
§ Engine Protection:
Automatic shutdown on Low Oil Pressure (LOP), High Water Temperature (HWT), Over-speed, and Under-speed.
§ Emergency Stop:
Dedicated mushroom-head push button on the front fascia.
